So in a few months time my husband and I will be living debt free for the first time since we met, I am super excited
When we started dating he was already heavily in debt and he wasn’t helping himself, adding to it rather than clearing it – I tried to talk him round but it’s hard to change someones habits of a lifetime. At one stage before we moved in together his debts were nearly cleared, but buying the house and renovating it put us back a few steps – no where near the amount of debt he was in when we met, but another 3 or 4 years worth to pay off.
At this point I also took charge of our finances and rather than trying to convince him to change his habits I kicked his backside if he spent anything I hadn’t budgeted for – sure it made for some rows along the way and I hated being the ‘nagging wife’ but he knows it was necessary. We go an i.v.a. which helped out dramatically and now, come June 1st 2010 when our last payment is due (assuming no disaster occur before then!). we will officially be living debt free
On Tuesday I am doing my favourite thing in the world ever, I am going clothes shopping – and as an added bonus I am going with my mom
I have a shopping list the size of my arm in my head but I am hoping to not have to spend a fortune, I am going to be all about the bargains and I do already have a few discount codes and vouchers to use.
Things that I absolutely need are some sparkly shoes and a fancy dress for a party I am going to on Thursday (a friends 30th, there are going to be a lot of those this year!) and a new coat, I did get one at Christmas but I changed my mind about liking it and took it back last week.
I hope I will be able to get them all in town, but if not I will just get them from the SimplyBe Women’s Clothing range online.
I’d also like to get some new skinny jeans, some combats, some leggings and maybe some nice lingerie for valentines day
My dear husband used to have to go to specialist shops to buy large menswear as he is very tall (which is amusing to most people as I am very short, we do look rather odd as a couple!) and at one stage but on quite a bit of weight.
He’s now lost the excess weight and is back to being the skinny boy I met all those years ago. I am very proud of him, but also annoyed and jealous at how quickly he was dropping the weight – he was losing in a week what it took me 2 months to lose.
The main things he did was simply cut out alcohol and excess salt, he also did at least 30 minutes of exercise per day.
Now he can shop at regular shops again (although he still struggled to get pants that fit his long legs!) and is looking as hot as ever
