My husbands car insurance needs renewing in a few weeks time and we are going to have to find someone else to provide it for us – although the rate we got with our insurance company was great last year this year it isn’t nearly as competitive, another case of companies trying to suck you in with introductory rates and then ramping up the prices.
Thankfully we are a lot more savvy than that and will definitely be finding the best option for THIS year and switching to that – a lot of people stick with the same place out of ease, but it definitely pays to put a little effort in.
We’d better get a move on with it though because as I say the old one is due to expire in mid March and we don’t want to be forced to renew or worse still have to go a few weeks without being able to drive the car while we get it sorted out!
Have you heard of the author anne a lay apostle? I hadn’t until a few days ago when someone at work started talking about it, they swear by it and says it has helped them out a lot – I am tempted to buy it and give it a try myself. I don’t really read self help type books very often as I find a lot are useless and the same old information repeated time and time again, but this one has glowing reviews on Amazon as well as a personal recommendation – so I feel I should give it a chance
I remember seeing a recent eHarmony advert on the TV that said something like one in every 10 people who get married met on dating sites. That’s pretty impressive when you consider dating online was still seen as something really ‘sad’ and only something weirdos did as little as ten years ago. It’s certainly come a long way pretty fast.
My husband and I met online, not on a dating website but in a chatroom – we spoke online for over 3 years before biting and the bullet and meeting up and then the rest as they say is history. Back then I used to dread people asking us how we met and knowing the ‘ewww’ looks we’d get back once we said – now I don’t even think about it, if someone asks I say loud and proud that we met in a chatroom and no one bats an eyelid
I think it’s a great thing, it’s so hard to find that perfect partner and the Internet opens up so many more opportunities – when would I have ever physically met my husband if it wasn’t for the Internet? Simply, I wouldn’t.
Now I am not the sort of person who likes a fuss, I am hoping it passes by without anyone trying to convince me I should throw a big party of sky dive in order to mark the day appropriately. But I am expecting some jolly nice gifts off my loved ones – DVDs are all well and good but I feel for my 30th I should get something a little more special that I will have and remember where it came from for years to come, like jewellery!
I got a (fake) Pandora bracelet at Christmas so people could perhaps buy me nice charms for that. I have also had my eye on a nice copper bracelet I have seen on BillyTheTree – they sell a wide range of gorgeous jewellery, from bracelets and earrings to anklets and toe rings.
I like the copper bracelets because I just prefer the color to gold which always seems garish to me.
BillTheTree offers free worldwide shipping which is also a major plus point as I have family and friends all over the world so any of them could order it for me, wrap it up and make it pretty and send it back over to me and they offer a satisfaction guarantee so if for any reason you don’t like your purchase you can just send it on back
When shopping online do you check for free coupon codes before purchasing anything? To me this seems like a basic thing to do because so many retailers do offer coupons and they are so easy to find thanks to sites like edeals.com – I just did a search for Target coupon codes and Best Buy coupons and both came back with results.
It took me a few seconds to do literally and if I were actually planning on making an order right now I’d have saved myself around $10.
I know people who don’t bother though, they say they ‘cant be bothered’, how lazy do you have to be to not be bothered to take a few seconds to do something that can save you some money?
What is it about women and shopping? Do you think it’s actually part of our DNA that we love doing it or is it something we learn and evolve into by watching society around us?
Either way like most women I indeed do love to shop. women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, make up and beauty products are my favourite things to buy – but I will quite happily go gaga over any thing really.
I was on a high all last week because I bought a new laptop case, I felt like a nerd.
I suppose one of the many reasons I personally love to shop for clothes is because I have lost so much weight and can now wear clothes that I wouldn’t have dreamed of wearing before
When we are debt free in a few months time and we have more disposable cash I think I am going to start looking for a decent maid service in Houston Texas – like most people I hate housework, hate hate hate.
It’s never ending, it’s tiresome, it’s boring.
I especially hate washing and drying dishes, dusting (it makes my allergies go wild!) and ironing – but really, I hate it all. I don’t understand why some women seem to enjoy it and even find it therapeutic – mind you a lot of my female friends don’t understand why I enjoy and find exercise therapeutic so I guess it works both ways.
With money being so tight I have not even mentioned it to my husband yet, but as we will be better off in a few months time I think that now is the time to start dropping hints. If we could just get someone in once a week even to blitz the place and allow me at least a few days off from having to do anything it’d totally be worth it
I was just looking for a site that sells West Coast Safes for guns. Being from the UK originally it is a pretty foreign concept to me that people keep guns in their homes – it seems as though every one in America has one whereas in the UK if you saw a gun in someones house you’d run out of there as fast as you could!
The husband and I have got into quite a few arguments about it over the last 3 years that we have lived here, he thinks we should have one because every one else does but I say we don’t need one – we managed to survive for 25 years in the UK (and Australia, and all of the other 5 countries we lived in at one point) without one so I am sure we’ll be fine here as well.
I was looking for a safe for my neighbours though as they do insist on having one and asked me to help find something for them.
I love saving money. You know how a lot of women love spending money? Well I am the opposite, I love shopping and buying things but I feel guilty if I pay the full amount for any thing – I get the satisfied feeling if I manage to save a hefty sum on the usual price of something
I spend a lot of time on various websites looking for coupon codes and the like for ordering items online, with so many coupons around and cashback sites it’s usually cheaper to buy things online than in store – especially if you have the patience to wait a little while and hope they have a sale or promotion on the way. A lot of places offer free shipping sometimes which is always a plus for me. I even Submit Promotional Codes to voucher sites quite often as I tend to find them before other people and it’s nice to share and give back to somewhere that has saved you a lot of money
I cant wait until June, we are going to the lovely little vacation rental home we have been going to for about 5 years now – it’s in a gorgeous location and is really a beautiful little place for the money we pay. We booked it through Vacation Rental.org and have never looked back – we always used to stay in hotels but vacation rentals are definitely much more suited to us.
Where was UNITARD all those years ago when we needed him? He’s a superhero who aims to tell people of the benefits of going for rentals instead of expensive hotels. Watch this funny vacation rental commercial featuring him here
