Whenever my mom rings me in an afternoon I know she’s about to ask me to look for something online for her. She usually calls in the evenings if she just wants to chat! I have told her a million times I don’t mind helping her out but that google is really easy to use and she could find things out in 2 minutes on her own rather than waiting a few days for me to get around to it for her – does she listen though? Of course not.
Oh well, what are mothers for if not to nag you after you’ve long since flown the coop? 
This time I was correct and that was why she was calling, she wants me to find some great medical insurance plans for her and my dad and as I did it recently for my husband and I she says she figured I would know the best place to look – which is true actually, so on this occasion I will let her off for not googling herself!
My mum started using ebay about 6 months ago now, I have been on ebay since 2005 and she’s already got twice as much feedback as me! She sells perfumes, usually the small sample sized bottles that she gets cheap – she’s hardly making a small fortune but it’s enough for it to be worthwhile for her. Now she’s thinking of branching out though and seeing if there’s anything else she can get her hands on at wholesale prices that will sell well.
I have suggested jewelry as I always see it doing well so have been looking for some sources for her, I have found a few great jewelry wholesale accessories sites and have just forwarded her the links.
I think that jewelry will fit in well with her account as well as it ties in with perfume quite well. Hopefully it will work out for her and she can start making a small fortune
I was playing online slots until silly AM last night, I started playing just for a little while before bed and before I knew it about 3 hours had passed me by. I slept through my alarm today as a result – oops. It’s a good job I didn’t have much planned for today, Tuesday is my day off so I am ‘allowed’ to stay up late on a Monday night
I might play again tonight actually, it’s a really easy to use and friendly site and I got a lot of bonus money that I need to play my way through.
Or I might be boring and get an early night. Decisions, Decision.
It is a long long time since I had to write my own graduate school admission essay but it feels like yesterday – I remember just how much time and effort I put into it and how much I agonized over every sentence. I am glad that I don’t have to write another one of them for myself any time in the foreseeable future but I do often get asked for tips and suggestions on how to write a good one by my nieces and nephews.
Frankly I tell them to use the Internet to help them these days because it’s so long since I did mine I can’t imagine the advice I offer is still relevant or really useful.
So far 3 of the 4 that have tried have got into the graduate school they wanted so they must be doing something right
I hate going on courses for work, I always have done and I always will do but unfortunately they are quite common in my line of work and our boss is very strict about making sure we do all the ones that are suggested.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy the courses, or learning, they are usually pretty interesting it’s just that I hate travelling to new places and meeting new people – most of them make you stand up in front of every one and introduce yourself and I hate things like that.
Thankfully you can do a lot of the courses online these days, the last one I had to do was occupational safety training and we used some software found online so it was much better for me – the pluses of learning something new and keeping the boss happy with without having to actually go out and face people
Insurance is now taken care of thanks to Netquote, they made it really easy for my to find what I was looking for – I said in my last post it would probably take 30 minutes but from start to finish it only took me around 12 minutes. I simply typed in my search and details for the Washington insurance we needed and then looked through the results that were already organized from lowest to highest – I did a quick check to see if the company that offered the lowest quote was reputable and then I filled out the forms, job done! If only every thing in life could be that simple!
I am on the lookout for the cheapest auto insurance in Virginia at the moment because the time has come again, time to renew the insurance for not only the car but also the house and our health insurance. I hate that they all come along at the same time each year but that’s our own fault I suppose.
Thankfully at least there are comparison sites out there these days that make it a lot easier to find the best prices, rather than it being a job that takes days and days and days it just takes half an hour or so.
I would be lost without comparison sites, I use them for absolutely everything not just finding the best rates on insurance. I don’t order a single thing online without using at least one comparison site first – even groceries.
I don’t know how we all survived without them to be honest, whoever invented the first one gets a big ‘thanks’ from me!
I remember seeing a recent eHarmony advert on the TV that said something like one in every 10 people who get married met on dating sites. That’s pretty impressive when you consider dating online was still seen as something really ‘sad’ and only something weirdos did as little as ten years ago. It’s certainly come a long way pretty fast.
My husband and I met online, not on a dating website but in a chatroom – we spoke online for over 3 years before biting and the bullet and meeting up and then the rest as they say is history. Back then I used to dread people asking us how we met and knowing the ‘ewww’ looks we’d get back once we said – now I don’t even think about it, if someone asks I say loud and proud that we met in a chatroom and no one bats an eyelid
I think it’s a great thing, it’s so hard to find that perfect partner and the Internet opens up so many more opportunities – when would I have ever physically met my husband if it wasn’t for the Internet? Simply, I wouldn’t.
When you need a new web hosting provider it can be a bit of a nightmare, where do you even start in looking for one?
I am glad that I am happy with my webhost at the moment, I have moved several times over the years and hated it every single time – I have been with my current host for almost two years now and so far so good. There has been a few minor issues along the way but I think that’s to be expected – it’s how it’s dealt with that is important to me and it’s always been dealt with professionally and quickly
Hopefully I have not just jinxed it and I will be able to stay with them for many more years to come.
Web hosting review sites come in handy when you do need to move to a new host though, they take a lot of the research work out of it for you – I always try to find sites that offer reviews and ratings from real people as well, it’s one thing reading ‘facts’ about what someone claims to offer, it’s another actually hearing what it’s customers have to say.
