Travel the world

If I hadn’t already done it in my 20s I might be thinking the time has come to Emigrate to Australia. I was born and bread in the UK and departed to be an Aussie on my 21st birthday – I had planned on staying there for at least 10 years but then the opportunity to move to the USA arose when I was 26 and I just couldn’t say no. I have to say of the 3 countries I have lived in Australia was my favourite and I probably would like to end up back there when I ‘retire’, but with so many other places in the world still to visit and try out I wouldn’t want to end up back there just yet – why settle down when you don’t have to?

I think I am going to make it my goal to live for at least one year in all English speaking countries before I pop my clogs – Canada here we come :)

Used Ford Kuga Cars

I was remembering our last trip to Australia last night as I looked out of my window at the horrible, cold, drizzly, foggy weather and thinking is this really summer time?

We loved hopping in the fancy Ford Kuga we rented for 2 weeks and just driving around until we found somewhere we wanted to see or something we wanted to do. It was a Used Ford Kuga but it was still at that point the most luxurious car we’d ever used and the air conditioning was absolute bliss – we simply wouldn’t have been able to drive around in the Australian heat as much as we did without it.

Vacation Rentals for the win!

I cant wait until June, we are going to the lovely little vacation rental home we have been going to for about 5 years now – it’s in a gorgeous location and is really a beautiful little place for the money we pay. We booked it through Vacation Rental.org and have never looked back – we always used to stay in hotels but vacation rentals are definitely much more suited to us.

Where was UNITARD all those years ago when we needed him? He’s a superhero who aims to tell people of the benefits of going for rentals instead of expensive hotels. Watch this funny vacation rental commercial featuring him here :)

Adventures in the UK

When I was in the UK visiting family recently I went to several towns and cities across the country, we’d been lucky enough to grab some bargain hotel rooms (£1 – £9!!) in a sale so we went to some very random places – we went to some nice places like Liverpool and went on the big wheel they had there and visited the Beatles museum. We also went to York for some shopping in the Queensgate shopping centre and a play on the Slot Games in the Quicksilver arcade there. We also went to Newcastle and let some flying lanterns off on the beach which was very nice and romantic, a trip away doesn’t seem like a real trip away without seeing the sea :)

We also went to some not so great places, like Wakefield and Bradford which were both total dumps to be honest. Really run down places with nothing special about them, I didn’t take a photo in either place and given that I am a total shutterbug that is really saying something – but the rooms only cost £1, were nice and clean and both were near to where my parents live so it was still an experience worth taking.

I’d rather give it a try than not!

I’ll make it there, one day!

I have been to many places in my life, I have lost count of the amount of countries I have visited and as you know I spent the first 20 years of my life living in the UK – with friends and family still there I return often.

Yet I have never been to London.

Isn’t that odd? Before I moved away for the first time I had not really been bitten by the travel bug, but you’d think I would have made the effort to go there on one of my many return trips over the years.

It’s not like I am not interested in visiting either, I would love to visit the East End and the main capital to do all the touristy things like visit Madam Tussauds, Buckingham Palace and The London Eye and I would love to visit the Quicksilver arcade and Westfield shopping center in nearby Shepherds Bush.

I suppose the issue is that when I go home I love to spend time with my friends and family, and they expect it of me – if I returned and told them I’d only be staying a day or two as I then planned to go off travelling more I don’t think it would go down too well.

It’s a compliment really, but I am determined to get there one day :)

I must remember

I must remember to charge my husband and I’s ipods before we go away in a few weeks time, the last time we went away I remembered to take them with us but failed to charge them first or take the charger – so they were totally useless. I then almost forgot to bring mine back as it had not been used, that would have been a disaster! Thankfully I remembered right at the last minute though :)

What a weekend :)

I am going to spend the next few days looking for information on Amsterdam apartment rental as we’re heading over there with the girls from work soon, I can’t wait. We went two years ago as well when it was someones 50th birthday and we had an absolute blast – Amsterdam has a certain reputation but it was not like that at all. It’s an absolutely gorgeous city with rich culture at every turn and some of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen – Italy is the only place I have seen any better architecture – we stayed for the weekend and I came away with loads of things I had wanted to do but didn’t have the chance to and I always said I would make sure to go back one day and finish the job :)

Super excited.
