Weight Loss

I have lost a lot of weight over the last few years, over 80 pounds in fact. People often ask me how I did it expecting some kind of miracle formula or quick solution but the truth is it has been a really slow process and I have done it by simply eating less and moving more.

I have done it this weight because I actually want to keep the weight off for life and apparently 95% of people who lose weight gain it all back – a very depressing statistic for sure – but those that have the most success are the ones that do it slowly, do it the right way and see it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet.

I am now down to that pesky few last pounds that I want to lose and I’d love a trip to somewhere like the True Weight Loss Clinic or Biggest Loser Resort to just kick me up the butt and help me get there – it is very very slow moving at the moment.

Skinny Hubby

My dear husband used to have to go to specialist shops to buy large menswear as he is very tall (which is amusing to most people as I am very short, we do look rather odd as a couple!) and at one stage but on quite a bit of weight.

He’s now lost the excess weight and is back to being the skinny boy I met all those years ago. I am very proud of him, but also annoyed and jealous at how quickly he was dropping the weight – he was losing in a week what it took me 2 months to lose.

The main things he did was simply cut out alcohol and excess salt, he also did at least 30 minutes of exercise per day.

Now he can shop at regular shops again (although he still struggled to get pants that fit his long legs!) and is looking as hot as ever :)

Weight Loss Journey

This time three years ago I weighed more than I ever have before in my adult life, I was a whopping 15 stone and 10 pounds, that’s 210 pounds — and I am only 5 foot tall — I was biiiiig.

I am currently weighing in at 9 stone 11 pounds and am well on my way to getting to my goal weight.

I have lost the weight the slow and sensible way. I work out 5 days a week and consume around 1400 calories a day. It can be really frustrating losing it this way, because I can go literally months without losing any thing — but I also think it’s the most sensible way to do it because it’s a sustainable life style change. I have no fears that I will suddenly come off the ‘diet’ and pile all the weight back on.

I give myself mini goals as they help keep me motivated, my next mini goal is 9.2 pounds — this will put me in the same stone as I was 5 years ago when the husband and I got together and it will mean I am no longer in the Obese BMI category.

I am unsure of my main goal weight — according to statistics my ideal weight is around 7 stone 7 pounds but that seems insane to me, I think I will be happy at about 9 stone 9 pounds but I guess I just have to get there and wait and see how I feel.
